Stabbing Suspect Arrested After Fight In Atlantic City: Police

A 47-year-old Atlantic City man was arrested after stabbing another man during a fight, authorities said.

At approximately 5:13 p.m, on Saturday, March 26, Officer Joseph Kelly Jr., while on routine patrol, saw a male collapse in the street near Hummock Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. 

Kelly Jr. learned that the 23-year old male from Atlantic City had suffered a stab wound to his chest and was bleeding heavily, police said.

He further learned that the stabbing occurred inside a residence on the 1700 block of Logan Avenue. 

Kelly rendered lifesaving medical aid to the victim by applying a chest seal to the puncture wound. 

Additional patrol units were dispatched to the residence on Logan Avenue and arrived to find several individuals inside the home. 

Using the loudspeaker on his patrol vehicle, Officer Ivaylo Ivanov ordered the individuals to exit the residence.  Karahn Hinson of Atlantic City, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody without incident, police said.

The victim was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment of a life-threatening stab wound sustained in the attack.

Hinson was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to possess a weapon.

Hinson was being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
